Denis Mercier - Sierre

About the winery

The seven-hectare estate around the town of Sion is divided into more than 50 plots, often limited in size, and is composed of two major terroirs: Pradec surrounding Château Mercier and Goubing near the winery.

The estate’s clay-limestone soil is dry and deep, and the land has been blanketed with self-seeding plant cover for several years. Much care is taken to produce grapes of the highest quality, and the vine’s yield is sometimes subject to strict restrictions for more concentrated flavours. Each grape variety flourishes in an adapted terroir, allowing it to fully express its organoleptic potential.

The grapes harvested from these parcels of land are second to none. The oenologist’s role involves overseeing the fermentation process to draw out the character of the terroirs and the splendour of each variety. Work in the cellar is as meticulous as in the vineyard. Some wines are aged in casks to allow them to reach their full potential.

Painstaking precision in the vineyard and the cellar produces characterful wines. Their skilfully crafted wines take you off the beaten track for a moment of sheer bliss. Madeleine, Anne-Catherine and Denis Mercier look forward to welcoming you to their winery and getting to know you over a glass of wine.
