Clos de Géronde - La Cave Frédéric Zufferey - Chippis

About the winery

The basis of the success of a great wine for Frédéric Zufferey is a grape variety adapted to the terroir. All his vines are located on the lands of the municipalities of Sierre, Veyras, Miège and Venthône. The terroir and climate are recognised as being among the best in Switzerland.

There are no less than 15 different grape varieties: Petite Arvine, Viognier, Chasselas, Marsanne, Pinot Gris, Humagne Blanc, Sylvaner, Muscat, Humagne Rouge, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, Cornalin, Gamay, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

For more than thirty years, Frédéric Zufferey has been committed to cultivating his vines with the greatest respect for the environment, with sustainable agriculture providing a balance between the soil, plant and terroir.

Le Clos de Géronde is part of the Vitival association, which obliges it to cultivate its vines in compliance with the ecological production requirements of the Vitiswiss regulations. As a result, he no longer uses chemical fertilisers but bovine manure only on his young vines, and he prohibits all insecticides.
