Cave du Mont de Lens - Flanthey
About the winery
Mont de Lens is the appellation chosen by Christian Besse when he established his winery in the new millennium. Lucien, Sébastien and Simon Besse, three of his six children, took up the reins in 2015.
The Besse family currently cultivate around four hectares of vines on the lower slopes stretching from Molignon to Corin. Most of the vines are grown organically. The soil thrives as a result of the ever-increasing use of grass cover on the estate’s plots. The yield from these vines is carefully monitored to ensure beautifully concentrated wines.
Cave Mont de Lens produces eleven vintages from ten grape varieties, the majority of which are Valais’ signature varieties: Fendant, Johannisberg, Muscat, Petite Arvine and Pinot Gris for dry white wines, and Gamay, Pinot Noir, Humagne Rouge, Cornalin and Syrah for red wines. The sweet, syrupy Ermitage completes the Mont de Lens range.
