Hans Bayard Soleil de Varone - Varen

About the winery

Hans and Hildegard Bayard-Kuonen founded the Soleil de Varone winery in 1984. It all began with 8,000 square metres. In 1990, after working in a factory for 17 years, Hans decided to turn his hobby into a career. His dream became a reality! A new chapter started with a move to the Rumelingstrasse site in the village. Ten years later, the winery was extended. Something that began as a small production of two wines quickly transformed into a respectable family business.

After 30 years of success, Hans and Hildegard decided to pass the baton to their sons Byörn and David Bayard in 2014. With the creation of Hans Bayard Soleil de Varone GmbH, the business is preparing for the future.

Meanwhile, over 73,000m2 of vines are grown to produce 11 different wines, including speciality wines such as Pinot Noir Pfyfoltru and Balmgasse, the house special. The winery’s philosophy is to work the vines according to the principles of integrated production. Using ecofriendly techniques, their vines are healthy and of great quality.
