Cave Cybèle - Chamoson

About the winery

Carlo Carruzzo and his wife cultivate an area of 1.5 hectares of vines, located entirely in Chamoson. A winemaker and oenologist for more than half a century, he decided to create his own cellar in 2015.

The name Cybèle was not chosen at random. This is a deity of Phrygia. She is arguably the greatest goddess of the ancient Middle East, whose cult was imported to Rome. Under various names, she personifies the growing power and wildness of nature. She is also one of the deities of fertility, and with Jupiter in Roman mythology, she shares sovereign power over the reproduction of plants, animals, gods and men. Mounted on a chariot drawn by lions, a symbol of strength, she holds a key that opens the door to the Earth where wealth is locked up.
