Weinschmiede Salgesch - Salquenen

About the winery

Brothers Reinhard and Christian Schmid have been dedicated to their passion for wine since a young age. Today, from their parents’ house in Salgesch, they run the Weinschmiede estate, founded in 1959, with boundless enthusiasm and a wealth of expertise.

Based in Winkel, in the Zurich Unterland region, Reinhard often makes the pilgrimage to Salgesch to watch over his wines and casks in his role as cellar master. From harvesting to bottling, he gives each new vintage all the attention, patience and love it deserves.

Head winegrower Christian is at the helm all year round, from pruning the vines to harvesting the grapes. He knows each vine of the family estate, and the standards for integrated production (IP) are both a mantra and a challenge for him. Now, Weinschmiede has set its sights on the "Organic Bud” label.
