Mythopia - Sion

About the winery

Romaine and Hans-Peter Schmidt founded Mythopia 10 years ago with the challenge of transforming a barren vineyard into a wine garden. They not only renounced the use of synthetic products, but also started planting trees, shrubs, flowers, grass between the rows, installing beehives, placing piles of stones and wood for lizards, and planting fruit and vegetables between the rows of vines. From the outset, our main strategy was to increase biodiversity, reactivate the soil, increase resistance to pathogens, and return a balancing complexity to the terroir in order to gain in grape quality and aroma.

They grow mainly Pinot Noir, as well as Fendant, Sylvaner, Rèze and other traditional grape varieties, with the vines all situated at an altitude of around 800m.

The Domaine de Mythopia strives to harmonize ecosystems in agriculture and to develop a high degree of biodiversity, so that the vines draw all their energy from the depths of the terroir and give character and aromatic fullness to the grapes.
