Daniel Magliocco & Fils - St-Pierre-de-Clages

About the winery

Since 1981, Daniel has worked on the estate with passion and conviction to bring out the very best from his terroir. In 2007, Mikaël joined the family business after graduating as a winemaker and wine engineer. Working together, understanding each other and pursuing a common ideal has been an enriching experience. After 10 years of this cooperation, the estate has come a long way.

In the vineyard, synthetic products have been abandoned in favour of organic solutions that respect the environment, are gentler on the winemaker and healthier for the consumer. This new direction will be reflected in the next few years with a certification for the winery. The wines have evolved too: there has been a constant search for balance in the white wines, which are now drier than they were. In the reds, the raw materials now come through more assertively.

Since the winery stopped using chemical fertilisers around ten years ago, the weight of the grapes has fallen and the wines have become denser. As Daniel and Mikaël like wines with character, they have made the winemaking process as non-invasive as possible. The aim is for the wines to be an expression of their terroir, and for the different vintages to convey a range of emotions. Daniel and Mikaël’s love for their work is obvious, and it’s clear they’ll be sharing their passion for many years to come.
