Cave de Goubing - Sierre
About the winery
The Goubing Winery, located in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, specifically in Sierre, often referred to as the "City of the Sun" due to its abundant sunshine, was founded by Michel Jacquod in 1974. Since 2007, the reins of the winery have been in the hands of his son, Olivier Jacquod.
Covering an area of 3.5 hectares, the vineyard of Goubing has been managed under Integrated Production (IP) principles since the early 1990s. In 2017, the implementation of a drip irrigation system marked a significant advancement. This system allows for a reduction of 70% in water usage, facilitated by the use of adjustable drippers.
The winemaking process at Goubing Winery consists of transforming grapes into wine through fermentation using traditional methods, without chaptalization. This means that no sugar is added to the must to augment the final alcohol content of the wine.
