De Canali - Salquenen

About the winery

In its third generation since 2012, this small family-run business strives to strike a balance between man and nature. Their commitment to this harmonious approach to winemaking is underpinned by their trust in the self-regulating forces of nature.

At the heart of Valais, between Finges forest, the Rhône river and the mountains, De Canali’s vineyards occupy the best locations in the sunny terroir of Salgesch. The plots cover 2.5 hectares of nutrient-poor, limestone and slate soils, with no chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers used in cultivation.

The grapes are carefully picked and transported from the vineyard to the winery. There, biodynamic methods are employed, using as little as possible in the way of technology, auxiliary materials and additives during each stage of the pressing and vinification process. This helps to preserve the inherent characteristics of the grapes. This sustainable winemaking concept ensures the energy and character of the plants and terroir are expressed in the finished product. The result is an exceptionally lively wine that fully reflects its origins.
