Chanton Weine - Visp
About the winery
Creative, courageous and exceptionally talented, the Chanton family – who run Chanton Weine in Visp – have been cultivating unique grape varieties for three generations, having started in 1944.
During the 1980s, Josef-Marie began making wine from four other forgotten varieties: Himbertscha, Gwäss and, later, Eyholzer Roter and Plantscher.
The family business maintains this skilful and pioneering approach today. Josef-Marie’s son, Mario Chanton, took the helm in 2008, putting his own stamp on Chanton's individual philosophy and the family’s winemaking knowledge. Marlis Chanton, Josef-Marie’s wife, is responsible for overall business concept and administration.
