Maison Gilliard - Sion
About the winery
Maison Gilliard was founded in 1885 by Edmond Gilliard, who acquired the Clos du Mont and Clos du Brûle-Fer vineyards above the city of Sion. Thanks to its founder, it can pride itself on being one of the oldest wineries in Valais and one of the best-known in Switzerland.
Maison Gilliard’s renown is illustrated by some of the iconic wines it has created : Dôle des Monts in 1886, Fendant Les Murettes in 1921, and the legendary Porte de Novembre in 1960. Today its offering includes more than 50 wines and 22 grape varieties, divided into the Perlines, Trésors de Famille, Tonneliers and Grands Murs ranges. All are cellared, aged and bottled on the estate, allowing for total control of the value chain from vine to glass.
With the support of its entire team in the field, Maison Gilliard cultivates some 64 hectares of vineyards between Leuk and Chamoson every day.
