La Petite Cave - Jean et Florence Carrupt - Chamoson

About the winery

In the mid-20th century, Valais agriculture was slowly transforming. Pastures with ancient, towering trees and market gardens gave way to more and more vineyards. The parents, Simon and Claude Carrupt, soon followed the same path. They left their cattle farming days behind and transformed their meadows into vineyards. As well as the vines, they still cultivate a few vegetables and some fruit (apples and pears) for a bit of variety and to occupy the time freed up by growing vines.

In 1990, Jean intended to take over the family business. Greater mechanisation of work in the vineyards and the planting of new grape varieties were his first challenges. In 1992, some of the production started to be vinified and sold directly to customers. Work in the winery intensified and the arboricultural branch of the business was abandoned.

La Petite Cave was founded in 1996 and continues to grow. It has also received the Valais "Wine Tourism" certification.
