About the winery
EcoJarr is a small, dedicated family business. Their vineyard, "zum Chriz", is situated at an altitude of over 800 metres above sea level in the municipality of Ergisch, in the beautiful Rhône Valley in Valais.
Chantal & Edwin Locher-Zenhäusern grow exclusively hardy, so-called PiWi grape varieties. They completely avoid the use of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. Their young vines are irrigated as needed via ditches using water from the Turtmann Valley. The soil receives their special attention and is enriched only with organic material from the vineyard, effective microorganisms and sheep or horse manure.
The newly planted, green and cultivated vineyard offers plenty of space for a natural and diverse range of flora and fauna. The naturally grown grapes are gently processed and vinified by hand in our own small winery, Grotto PiVino, in Unterbäch at 1,250 metres above sea level. Every year, our 3 white and 8 red grape varieties produce a new and innovative range of PiWi wines with a diverse array of aromas.
