About the winery
You are not born a winegrower but you become one through hard work and conviction. This could be the time-honoured formula for introducing Serge Antille – an instinctive wine-grower and winemaker – whose first memories linked to the taste of wine are related to his father Abel.
He did not attend a school of oenology but trained on the ground, and he has familiarised himself with working on vines with passion and determination, which is essential to the success of a high quality wine; starting with pruning, then de-budding, right up to the harvesting of the grapes at full ripeness. As Serge points out so well, you also have to know how to talk to the vine to make a joyful and lavish wine.
The Clos des Cyprès cellar – founded in 1999 – offers a variety of white, red and rosé Valais grape varieties. Serge introduces you to these in a friendly atmosphere at his tasting cellar in Veyras, or at the Maladaires estate, which he has been operating since 2016 near Sion.
