Boni Vini - Gaston et Eric Bonvin - Flanthey
About the winery
Gaston and Eric Bonvin run this family business, founded in 1940 by their father and their grandfather François Bonvin. The winery is located in the village of Flanthey (750 m.a.s.l.) in the central-Valais municipality of Lens, between the towns of Sion and Sierre.
Boni Vini’s eight hectares of vines are all located on the slopes of the right bank of the Rhône, between St-Léonard and Sierre. Its wines are all produced on its own vineyard and bear the label “Les Coteaux de Sierre” (The Hillsides of Sierre).
Sixty per cent of their production comes from red grape varieties (Pinot Noir, Gamay, Humagne Rouge, Cabernet Franc and Syrah) and 40% from white grape varieties (Chasselas, Rhin, Muscat, Humagne Blanc, Pinot Gris and Petite Arvine). Since 1996, Boni Vini has also been developing its production of sweet wines with a Petite Arvine flétrie and a Pinot Noir flétri aged in barrels. The highlight of their offering is arguably the Chelinoir, a blend of three red grape varieties (Pinot Noir, Humagne Rouge and Syrah), which is also barrel-aged.
For better quality control, the wines are produced exclusively using grapes grown on the estate. The Boni Vini winery stands for tradition, and its wines are a faithful expression of the Valais terroir.
